Macromedia Flash in Internet presents few years ago. As more and more features that we offer can only hope that the growing number of insertion sites Flash movies will continue to grow. Undoubtedly, flash allows our sites become more interactive, fun and absolutely beautiful, but continues to attract hordes comments as unnecessary and too much to do. When is exactly what is starting to draw the line as flash-based or not? Here's a quick run down.
Interactivity is one of the best features of a site in flash. From flash games, interactive contests, images of rotation for Web forms provide an important component that visitors keep coming back. Programmers and designers have been pushing the limits enough flash to madness endless being 'part' of the entire presentation.
Have you ever visited a site that looks good in Firefox but not Internet Explorer? Or maybe a site site that displays' notice Best Viewed on Internet Explorer before I let you in? This is basically a cross-browser compatibility issue. As a programmer or web designer, this has a major setback and eats a lot of time trying to develop test results of all browsers on the market. Without But with the flash everything you need is a flash player installed on the viewer's machine and your ready to go.
Expressing thoughts in animation. Some things are best explained through objects and flash animation movies are too compressed like its real counterpart of the film that indeed they are receiving the attention of those top notch entertainers. This is because Flash uses vector graphics (and therefore much smaller), while the other is based on plot and therefore much larger in size.
Flash require a flash player and the reorientation of people without flash to a download site can sometimes irritate especially for visitors not geek. Now, if the visitor refuses to download the Flash Player, your site will be completely invisible. A way to counter this problem is to provide a separate page for flash and non flash visitors. Again, this adds additional hours in development.
Optimizing a Flash-site is extremely difficult. This is because spiders (search engines) would not be able to read or understand the site. Spiders read the content and if 90% of the site is based on flash, then expect a low organic traffic (traffic generated by search engines) direction to your site.
Flash based site also needs a loading time, comprehensive, especially on machines with slow Internet connections. This is because a movie Flash needs to be loaded all together before it really begins in comparison with the text and images that are loaded almost simultaneously. Visitors patience are tested in this part and according to studies, do not wait 15 seconds to view your presentation come alive. They go to another site, millions of them anyway.
With the advent of connections to broadband Internet, embedding Flash movies on your website is no longer a problem. Properly optimizing your movies tolerable load time is probably the best way to go. You should also consider the mix of flash with normal text and images to promote the optimization of search engines. After all, a site without visitors is like a bride without a groom.
