What is the top Web development language today?

The last time I made a website was in html, so it's been a while, I have to do a small business website and was curious what is the top tongue out at the moment, more stable and secure of all. If you can recommend a good book or website, be cool. Thanks in advance. Mark 5 stars someone!

Published: 19:09 EST there are the biggies ASP.NET, followed JSP and PHP. ASP.NET is used everywhere – JSP tends to be used by people who love open source like PHP. (If you go with PHP – the best way forward is to download a lamp or xamp (Linux / Windows-Apache-MySQL-PHP) package and then you can build on your computer (Go to www.apachefriends.org for details). PHP seems to be used by many nonprofit organizations. Either way, you still need to know HTML – is also useful if you know a bit of Javascript, or CSS. As for web sites – for wet feet would try w3schools.org. Some people are using Flex is a kind of successor to ColdFusion. But I have not heard much about in recent years or so. But if you want to build a business website, I would not do it from scratch – instead of looking to a content management system like Drupal or Joomla! You can connect a database backend (including MySQL) – all for free. Just get a site to house them. There are plenty of CMS's out there – you can create a web site in about an hour or two that has lots of functionality. Many of them have PHP code runs on the hood.
