At 54 Should I learn PHP / MySQL or Ruby on Rail?

What is my best bet. I am a newbie hoping to enter the field of development web? What is asp.net? I read that it takes a lot to learn it.I am giving me 8 months to a year to learn then I will apply for a job. If development under Linux or Windows?

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I do not think age has much to do with it. If you are looking language that will help you get a job, both are good but PHP / MySQL is most common. In addition, MySQL is a database, so it's really learning two languages, PHP and SQL. If you're looking for something fun to learn or going to work.
