What are the common languages, current issues in web programming right now?

Hello, I'm thinking about going back to web development, but have been out of it for a while. They have done some small projects in PHP / SQL with some XML / CSS. ASP is still used much? through which other technologies good to know how to use the mo? Many!

Javascript will be even more important over time than a year as AJAX (Google Maps things is coded) becomes more mainstream. ASP regret to say that will never be a dominant language as Miscrosoft and about 80% of servers based on Linux. Many IIS (Windows) servers can use PHP, but few Linux server role of ASP. This does not mean a potential niche market will develop for developers ASP. The other problem is that you will be taught using ASP Vbscript, linking with Access or MS SQL again restrict their options. I think the main area of use ASP are corporate firms, but it means that your customer base is limited. XHTML / CSS is a must, will become the backbone of all web sites and then the client side through JavaScript scripts and then some form of Serverside scripting, this will probably be PHP / MySQL combination. The positive side is that if you learn a language they do soo much easier to learn others. As ActionScripting in Flash or Java or Perl or Ruby on Rails (technically a frame).
